Independent Label Market has added more details, ahead of its launch today (May 21st).
Taking place in the heart of Soho, the Independent Label Market aims to connect music fans with the music industry. Labels are set to get their hands dirty, going back to basics on a series of stalls.
Amongst the labels taking part are Bella Union, Heavenly, Domino and more with plenty of surprises on the day. XL Recordings are one of the country’s most respected labels, and the powerhouse imprint is set to gather some rarities and special edition items for the one off event.
Now the label has confirmed an unusual one off: a “Record Label Starter Kit”. The kit contains the master tapes, lifetime copyright and one page contract for an EP called “Fresh Touch”.
The EP was recorded in Ethiopia by Richard Russell and XL’s in-house engineer Rodaidh McDonald, and features local musician playing alongside a host of well known special guests. To help get things started, the kit comes complete with guaranteed radio play from the esteemed label.
Alongside this, the Independent Label Market are streaming a special playlist based on the items available on the day. Containing newcomers, acclaimed artists and more this is a great way to build up to the big day.
